Enertis has performed aerial thermography inspections to validate the quality of more than one million solar PV modules for the 375 MWp El Llano PV project

  • Enertis has performed quality assurance inspections to validate the compliance with the project quality plan, carrying out electroluminescence tests and aerial thermography with drones and using machine learning techniques to process data.

Enertis, a leading global consultancy and engineering company in the renewable energy industry, has performed a technical analysis of more than one million solar PV modules of the El Llano project. The plant, built by a consortium formed by Novamper (Prodiel) and PowerChina, is located in the municipality of El Llano in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Enertis focused on supervising the compliance with the project quality plan, carrying out tests and trials to verify the optimal performance of the equipment, especially the solar PV modules, which is a key element for the long-term success of the project.

The firm carried out electroluminescence tests on the modules before their installation on the trackers in order to detect any damage that may have occurred during transportation and delivery to plant site. Moreover, a detailed visual inspection of 1,006,560 photovoltaic solar panels and a curve I-V tracing test have been completed.

Enertis also performed aerial thermography inspections with high-resolution infrared drone cameras, which contributed to speeding up the operations, and implemented machine-learning techniques to process the data and identify possible damage to the panels.

With 375 megawatts peak of capacity, the El Llano PV Project is the largest renewable energy project awarded during the third Mexican electricity auction.
